GRAFFITI IN BARRANQUILLA

GRAFFITI
According to the word reference dictionary, the word graffiti means " markings, as initials, slogans, or drawings, written, spray-painted, orsketched on a sidewalk, wall of a building or public restroom, or the like". This term is also asocciated with the street art. People go to the streets and then they start painting and writting on the wall what they want to communicate with spray paint. We can not deny how effective the graffiti is to express our disagreement with the society issues. It´s is a different way to speak without using our voice, it is a nonverbal communication.

In Barranquilla we can find many graffities on the wall. Graffities done by acción poética are very famous in our city. The group was born in Mexico and now we can find it in many countries. They are used to write thoughts of love created by the members of the group. As we can observe in the photo below, they write they thoughts of love:

We can also find other kindof graffities, like the ones done by "Revolver", who do paintings on the wall with a strong message:

As we could see, graffiti is another way to express ourself, but unfortunately is not completly acceptable. People complain about graffiti because they see it as a vandalism. They don´t consider graffiti as the art it is but as a wall painting done by criminals. It´s pretty dissapointing that people who express in this way have to go the jail (in many cases) because society can not accept them. I think that as art and a way of expression, we should let them do the graffities, because at the end of the road, it´s nonverbal communication.

How have either a sport, hobby, or music shaped your own personal culture?

The music that I´m used to listen has shaped my own personal culture, and I´m pretty sure that it has done the same thing in many people. Why? the answer is as simple as the fire in the night: Music is a way of expression. Some people might be shy, but when they listen to music, the find peace and also they find the courage to do anything just by listening a song. In my case, music is the way I chill out. When I feel  like the world's on my shoulders because I need to do many things, I just put on my headphones and start listening to music and suddenly my problems are gone, I forget about all the things I have to do and then I can think clearly.

Music is magic and is the universal language. No matter where are you from you can always listen to music , and music helps to build our own culture because depending on the kind of music we are used to listen, we can express our self  some people choose the clothes based on a musical genre or they thoughts are based on a song´s lyric.
Music is a way of expression, a way of relaxing. Music is part of our personal culture and we can not deny it. I know that I can express what I feel by listening a song, so it means that  music has shaped my own personal culture.

Arabic Spring in Egipt?

Arabic Spring in Egipt?

It might sound like something cute, but it´s not. This name was given by the media  to those arabic countries that has been going through a series of revolutions . These revolutions are based in putsches, and the citizens are those who run them. Poor living conditions are the cause of this situation. The protests are in the name of democracy.

President of Egipt, Mubarak, was one of the "victims" of these revolutions.
The citizens didn´t want him anymore. He had been running the country for about 30 years and he had done nothing positive for the country. After a massive revolutions, the president Mubarak had to quit . Now the citizens are allow to vote and they are waiting for a positive change
